The Italy Masonic Hall will be selling BBQ brisket by the pound on Superbowl Sunday. The BBQ will be sold from 10:00am until gone on Sunday, February 7 at the Masonic Hall located on Main Street. The Park Board of Italy met on Tuesday night and discussed the upcoming Mayor’s Easter Egg Hunt. As a quorum of board members was not met this meeting was just discussion only. The egg hunt is slated for Saturday, April 3 and the Park Board is calling for volunteers and donations. (Continued…)

The Italy High School library is participating in a Microgrant program sponsored by Weekly Reader and an online community, called WeAreTeachers. The 5 recipients of this grant receive $200 to promote “literacy” in their school, as well as a Flip video camera. Recipients are selected through an online voting process. (Continued…)

On Saturday, Jan. 30, twelve students from Italy represented the district at the Central Texas Honor band clinic and concert. Over 600 students from 30 schools competed earlier in the month to earn the right to perform at this prestigious event. (Continued…)

The Italy Junior High boys played two games against Dallas Life Thursday, January 28. The 7th graders had their struggles early but managed to finish strong. The 8th graders built a small lead by intermission and then pulled away in the 2nd half to pencil in their second win in a row. (Continued…)

Friday night, Italy Basketball celebrated Throwback Night honoring the 1955 girls State Semi-finalists and the 1974 boys Regional Finalists Basketball teams. Honorees enjoyed watching the current JV Boys, Varsity girls and Varsity boys basketball teams as they defeated the Waxahachie Advantage Eagles in all 3 games. (Continued…)
