The Italy Athletic Booster Club will meet tonight, February 8 at 7:00 p.m., in the Italy High School cafeteria. The athletic scholarship awards will be the primary docket item for the meeting. German Foreign Exchange student is enjoying life in Italy
The dream of living in America has come true for a German teenager, at least for one school year, in of all places, Italy. Lisa Olschewsky, 16, is attending Italy High School as part of a foreign exchange student program coordinated by the Educational Merit Foundation. (Continued…)

Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser scheduled for Saturday, February 6

BBQ brisket for Superbowl Sunday
The Italy Masonic Hall will be selling BBQ brisket by the pound on Superbowl Sunday. The BBQ will be sold from 10:00am until gone on Sunday, February 7 at the Masonic Hall located on Main Street. Monies raised through this fundraising event will go to the W.R. Gorman Masonic Scholarship Fund. All donations are greatly appreciated. (Continued…)

Easter egg fun for everyone
The Park Board of Italy met on Tuesday night and discussed the upcoming Mayor’s Easter Egg Hunt. As a quorum of board members was not met this meeting was just discussion only. The egg hunt is slated for Saturday, April 3 and the Park Board is calling for volunteers and donations. (Continued…)
IHS Library needs votes!
The Italy High School library is participating in a Microgrant program sponsored by Weekly Reader and an online community, called WeAreTeachers. The 5 recipients of this grant receive $200 to promote “literacy” in their school, as well as a Flip video camera. Recipients are selected through an online voting process. (Continued…)
IYAA Baseball/Softball sign-ups Saturday at old Italy gym
The IYAA will be conducting its first Baseball/Softball sign-ups on Saturday, February 6 inside the old Italy High School gym from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Italy students participate in Cen-Tex Honor Band clinic and concert
On Saturday, Jan. 30, twelve students from Italy represented the district at the Central Texas Honor band clinic and concert. Over 600 students from 30 schools competed earlier in the month to earn the right to perform at this prestigious event. (Continued…)

Italy's 7th & 8th grade boys show their skills against Dallas Life
The Italy Junior High boys played two games against Dallas Life Thursday, January 28. The 7th graders had their struggles early but managed to finish strong. The 8th graders built a small lead by intermission and then pulled away in the 2nd half to pencil in their second win in a row. (Continued…)

“Gladiator Throwback Night’’ honors former players and coaches
Friday night, Italy Basketball celebrated Throwback Night honoring the 1955 girls State Semi-finalists and the 1974 boys Regional Finalists Basketball teams. Honorees enjoyed watching the current JV Boys, Varsity girls and Varsity boys basketball teams as they defeated the Waxahachie Advantage Eagles in all 3 games. (Continued…)
