On Monday, June 8, 2009, the Ellis County Commissioners court held a short meeting and recognized the Italy Gladiators Softball, Baseball, Track and Powerlifting teams. The students were invited by Commissioner Heath Sims.

The second floor of the Ellis County Courthouse was filled with students and family as the proclamations were read. “This year’s level of competition of Italy sports is hopefully a renewal,” Sims commented.

Each group was called to stand and be recognized. Ryan Ashcraft was commended for regional track qualification, Sa’Kendra Norwood and Kaitlyn Bales qualified for state in power lifting.

It was a great pat on the back for the Gladiator teams.
