Tour d’Italia that is. Over 900 cyclist are expected to converge on our town on Saturday, June 16th to not only participate in this annual tradition but also to help raise money. Proceeds from this ride will fund a scholarship for Italy High School as well as support the North Texas Food Bank, Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) and other charitable organizations. On Saturday, May 12 the Batten Disease Support & Research Association is putting on a 5K run, 2 mile walk, and a 1K fun run event in order to raise funds for the ongoing research to find a cure for the Batten disease. The second annual Men and Boys Community Chili Dinner took place at the Cornerstone on Wednesday night at 6:30 pm. Several churches throughout the town were represented. Family Fellowship Church, First Baptist Church of Italy, and Central Baptist Church all had church members attend the dinner.
