Italy parade honors recent sports heroes from Italy High School

Parade planned to honor Kortnei Johnson, girls state track team and IHS baseball

On Saturday, May 18th, 2013, Italy school and city leaders have planned a downtown Italy parade to honor state record breaking track sprinter, Kortnei Johnson along with state qualifying runners, Halee Turner, Ryisha Copeland and Kendra Copeland. Parade time is 10:00am. Also included in the parade will be a send off for the Gladiator Baseball team as they head out to battle Trenton in game two of a best of three series for the regional quarter-final title. Lady Gladiators’ playoff game scheduled; Fan bus planned

The Lady Gladiators will play in an Area Championship softball game on Friday, May 3 at Hall Middle School in Weatherford. In a double-header format, game one will begin at 6:00pm and will be followed by game two at 8:00pm. A fan bus will be available.

Lady Gladiator Softball warm up game information

Italy High School’s varsity softball team will travel to Malakoff on Friday, April 19 for the first of several warm-up games planned for the Lady Gladiators. Game time on Friday is 6:30. Admission will be charged ($3 Adult, $2 Student/Child, Senior Citizen discount honored). (Continued…)

Gladiator Baseball has schedule change due to SAT testing

Coach Ward wants to make everyone aware that the double header planned for tomorrow has been reduced to one game with a start time of 1:00pm. Due to SAT testing, the Dawson squad will not be available but for one afternoon game. It will be gorgeous weather, so make plans to support our Gladiators tomorrow, Saturday, April 13 at 1:00pm when they take on the Dawson Bulldogs. (Continued…)

Still unbeaten in district, Lady Gladiators sweep Grand Prairie Advantage 13-0

Italy — The Lady Gladiators defeated Grand Prairie Advantage 22-0 earlier in district play and coasted to a victory in the rematch with Italy winning again, 13-0. A two run double by Tara Wallis, an RBI double by Alyssa Richards who knocked in 3 runs and scored once, a 2 RBI double by Paige Westbrook and an RBI triple by Kelsey Nelson separated Italy who led early and continued building on their lead throughout. Along with the RBI, Nelson crossed home plate 3 times for Italy’s cause. (Continued…)
